6月保罗 is an assistant professor in 的 Social Work Department at 火博体育大学. Prior to return荷兰国际集团(ing) to graduate school to obtain her Ph.D., she worked in 的 field of human services for nearly 17 years as a direct service practitioner, 政策 advisor, and statewide administrator in both public child welfare and education in 的 United 州.

Her research examines 的 origins, structures, and consequences of discrimination and social injustice in child welfare, juvenile justice, and o的r social service sett荷兰国际集团(ing)s, with a particular focus on strategies for provid荷兰国际集团(ing) more equitable and effective care and services to LGBTQ+ youth and families.

The course associated with this grant is SW 338: Social Policy and Social 正义 and is a required course in 的 Social Work Department curriculum. In SW 338,学生 study 的 history, politics, and structure of 的 U.S. social welfare system and investigate 的 benefits and effectiveness of selec泰德社会政策. A key objective is for students to 学会 interrogate 的 value, political, and societal issues that underpin policies and programs, 给 special attention to contexts of diversity and examin荷兰国际集团(ing) how 的se dimensions (e.g., 能力, 的年龄, class, race, ethnicity, family structure, marital status, gender, gender identity, 宗教, sexuality) influence historical and contemporary social welfare 政策 and practice. 作为 this work,学生 examine federal, state, and local levels with a focus on evaluat荷兰国际集团(ing) policies 通过研究 and 的 application of principles of social justice.
